Hi, Welcome to the web site for Sailing Ship Anemone.

This site will serve to keep, anyone interested, up to date, with the adventures of the vessel and her crew as they explore rivers, estuaries, bays, inlets, oceans and seas....hopefully wherever the sun is shining.. the breezes are gentle.. the swells are kind and the natives are friendly.

Anemone is in the final stages of preparation for sea, and given the right circumstances, work should be completed for departure early  2012.

On other pages you will find pictures of Anemone dating from the commencement of construction in 1988, up to the present time, and a "contact" page should you want more information or have a query.

Stay tuned....

Thurs, 9th June.

G'day sailor....

Please forgive my absence from this site for so long.

Soooo much as happened.

I finally won my protracted dispute with the education department for Long Service leave, but had to wait until first term this year to collect it. I have now collected it.

But..

The best laid plans of sailors.....

The Queensland coast and consequently the Great Barrier Reef and it's cruising grounds have been hit by some serious floods and cyclones (hurricanes). Many areas have been affected.

More seriously though... I have gone into the hairdressing/beauty business and the greater part of my cruising fund has been given to setting up this enterprise.

My daughter is a fabulous hairdresser/beautician, and has always looked to running her own show and I am pleased to be able to help her realise her dream.

Father has come up with the finance. (bye bye LSL fund)

Apart from the alternative use of my cruising fund, my daughter has 4 school age kids, 2 dogs, 2 guinea pigs, six chickens and a busy builder husband, so I expect to be doing a lot of child minding and helping her out with domestic stuff.

If all goes well, next year she will be repaying the loan and with a year for the Reef to recuperate, 2012 (May onwards) will be a better time.

I am a little disappointed to not be cruising this year, but am enjoying being a part of my daughters new initiative.

Anemone was ready to go and next year will be even better prepared.

Stay in touch... and see what the future brings

G'day Sailor...

Just a quick heads up.....

My daughters Salon is going great and she is making regular repayments on the money I loaned to her (my cruising kitty).... so all looks good for next year.

I recently spent a week in Darwin (Australia's most northern city) and checked out the cruising scene. Great spot ...cant wait to get there.

In the meantime it is a full time job keeping up with the maintenance on Anemone... all is good however

See ya next year.... on the water.

 Tue, November 8th,

G,day again sailor..

As you know my e-mail account was hacked and it has taken over a month to get it fixed, and to get the account cleaned up so that I am confident that you can access it without concern. I have been using it for three weeks now without problem.

All looks great for cruising next winter down under, here.

Officially the season (winter) starts June, 1... but if winds and weather allow I hope to get away early (April/May) and head north for the Great Barrier Reef. (world heritage area)

My daughters Salon is going well and her loan repayments are and will continue to be a regular and reliable source of income while cruising.

She has taken on an apprentice, has a number of seniors who can come in when there is more work than she can personally handle... and... she has kicked me out of the salon (It appears I was getting in her hair..... get it... salon, hair.... boom.boom...... (ok....I'm sorry))

Anemone's galley, salt water pump has packed it in and the head pump is acting up. I have also just taken delivery of an 80 watt solar panel to replace one that has shattered. I also have 20 litres of non-skid deck paint to apply. Recent heavy rain has opened up a couple of leaks, and fresh water is making it's way to the bilge... I need to locate the source/s of the leak/s and fix it/them. The cockpit is also ready for a repaint, and the bow netting needs re-lashing.

You can see I have much work in front of me.

Currently I am sorting out the tools I will need to take with me while cruising, and storing everything else ashore. I have accumulated a lot of other "stuff" that will need to go, before sailing. Just the bare necessities to remain on board.

My dinghy launch system is problematic and I need to design and make a new one. The saloon seating could do with re-upholstering and the dinghy outboard needs a service.

All this and I still need to do sea trials......... gotta go... work to be done..
